Job Description
Senior Accountant managing a varied UK client portfolio remotely from South Africa. Preparing accounts, tax work and management reports while guiding junior accountants.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of UK external clients and act as a key day-to-day contact
- Prepare and review UK statutory accounts under FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Prepare and/or review corporation tax computations and CT600s
- Prepare and review UK VAT returns and assist with HMRC queries
- Review bookkeeping, reconciliations and year-end adjustments
- Manage multiple client assignments and statutory deadlines
- Review work completed by junior team members and provide technical guidance
- Support junior staff through feedback, coaching and review
- Identify accounting and tax issues and communicate solutions clearly to clients
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a UK accountancy practice
- Proven experience preparing UK year-end accounts for multiple external clients
- Strong knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105
- Practical experience with UK corporation tax, VAT and HMRC
- Experience preparing management accounts
- Experience managing a varied client portfolio and competing deadlines
- Strong client-facing communication skills
- Experience reviewing or supporting junior accountants
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of client work
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or QBE (desirable)
- Previous Senior Accountant, Accounts Senior, Client Accountant or Assistant Manager experience (desirable)
- Experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Dext (desirable)
- Experience with Silverfin, IRIS, Sage or similar practice software (desirable)
- Experience working with media, creative or other owner-managed businesses (desirable)
