Job Description
Senior Staff Accountant managing payment-processing reconciliations, billing, and month-end close. Supporting lending accounting and audits for Scratch Financial’s veterinary-care payment platform.
Responsibilities:
- Pull and analyze transactions from BigQuery, transform data in Google Sheets/Excel, and import detailed and summarized entries into QuickBooks Online for the payments processing business
- Calculate, run, and analyze monthly billing for the payments processing business
- Ensure and track accounts receivable related to billing
- Ensure customer payments are drafted timely and enter AR payments into QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile payments processing activity by clinic and clinic consolidators monthly
- Analyze discrepancies and work with Product and Revenue Teams to resolve differences
- Own assigned month-end close tasks, including journal entries, accruals, and required schedules
- Support month-end close tasks for the lending business, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Serve as backup for daily and monthly lending reporting
- Assist with preparing schedules for annual and other financial audits
- Search for and provide auditor-requested support for testing
- Complete other special projects assigned by the Director of Accounting/Controller
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and working with large transaction files
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets, Docs and Drive
- High attention to detail
- Experience with QuickBooks Online; Advanced preferred, including bulk journal entry and transaction imports
- Ability to write and run queries in Google BigQuery or similar SQL tools
- Experience in payments, merchant services, fintech, or lending
- Exposure to multi-currency accounting or Canadian operations
- Experience with a loan servicing platform such as LoanPro
- Experience in Stripe or related platforms
- CPA or progress toward it
