Job Description
Senior Associate shaping Learneo’s technology investment strategy through market research, company diligence, and CEO-level recommendations. Learneo operates builder-driven learning and productivity businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the CEO to determine in whom, what, where, when, and why Learneo invests
- Research and recommend potential investments across categories, asset classes, and deal types
- Develop Learneo's perspective on where to invest by researching, sizing, and stress-testing investment themes
- Run quantitative and qualitative market mapping and benchmarking exercises
- Form theses on competitive dynamics, market structure, and value creation
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into companies, business models, and competitive landscapes
- Track market trends and industry signals across technology and adjacent sectors
- Source and own outreach with target companies and founders
- Build systems for tracking companies and knowing when to engage
- Form and present clear, answer-first recommendations to senior leadership
- Build Learneo's market intelligence function, including scorecard criteria and repeatable evaluation processes for investment and acquisition decisions
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, management consulting, hedge fund analysis, or an early-stage startup
- Genuine, intrinsic passion and curiosity for investing and how companies create value
- Ability to build a well-reasoned point of view on an unfamiliar market, from scoping the research question to delivering a clear, evidence-backed conclusion
- Strong independent judgment and ability to form and defend a confident thesis from ambiguous or incomplete information
- Ability to get up to speed quickly in new domains and operate without a pre-existing framework or subject matter expertise
- Advanced ability to translate quantitative and qualitative research into concise, actionable recommendations for senior audiences
- Strong business, financial, and economic literacy
- Comfort reading cap tables, investor memos, and market data as primary sources
- Bonus: Point of view on how AI is reshaping specific industries or business models
- Bonus: Experience conducting primary research alongside secondary research
- Bonus: Familiarity with deal flow, market mapping, or investment memo writing
- Bonus: Proficiency in analytics or data tools such as PitchBook or CB Insights
- Bonus: Founder experience, especially selling a business into or working at a serial acquirer platform
