Job Description
Senior Author Trainer & Manager leading author training, pedagogy, and accessibility. Advancing digital learning and publishing innovation at Wiley.
Responsibilities:
- Lead training strategy and champion pedagogical excellence and accessibility across the authoring community
- Plan, facilitate, and continuously improve Author Workshops and the L1–5 training curriculum for new authors and Content Technology Developers
- Manage transition to a new authoring environment, including communications, rollout, training, and documentation updates
- Coordinate training on AI use across Courseware and facilitate AI adoption and emerging technology workflows
- Coordinate specialized training programs, including Rev1, Train-the-Trainer, alt text, and assessments training
- Maintain and release updates to the Authoring Guide
- Schedule and facilitate peer reviews, oversee the book club program, and write and manage the Tuesday Tips series
- Plan and deliver or oversee New Markets trainings and one-off trainings for sales representatives
- Evaluate new tools and activities against best instructional practices with pedagogy subject matter experts
- Advise authors and CTDs on pedagogy implementation and AI integration in content development
- Own and advance the content accessibility program, including alt text tracking, review, writing, and remediation of accessibility gaps
- Respond to customer questions about content accessibility
- Facilitate the monthly Accessibility Work Group and participate in Wiley Accessibility Guild meetings
- Advocate for accessibility features and stay current on accessibility regulations
- Own and maintain the Airtable database, including prioritization, automations, and updates
- Gather information on feature requests to support prioritization
- Lead monthly prioritization and developer update meetings and participate in bi-weekly Content/Product meetings
- Contribute to process improvement efforts
- Collaborate regularly with product and platform teams
- Represent the Training and Authoring function at leadership meetings when needed
- Demonstrate executive presence through productive cross-functional engagement and composure under pressure
Requirements:
- Proven experience in instructional design, author training, or a similar learning & development role, ideally within a publishing or content technology environment
- Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing direct reports
- Deep familiarity with accessibility standards and a genuine commitment to inclusive content practices
- Comfort with tools like Airtable and the ability to manage data systems independently
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complex topics for diverse audiences
- A collaborative, calm, and influential presence in cross-functional settings
