Job Description

Senior auto adjuster investigating liability, evaluating coverage, and negotiating auto claims for AAA’s nationwide member-services organization. Handling moderate-complexity claims across multiple markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Auto Claims Operation by handling material damage, property damage, and/or liability insurance claims
  • Provide service pursuant to the policy while complying with regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Investigate liability, evaluate coverage, and develop claims resolution and negotiation strategies for moderately complex claims
  • Work under limited supervision within defined limits and authority to resolve claims using established procedures
  • Communicate with insureds, claimants, and other individuals
  • Verify and explain benefits, coverages, fault, and the claims process verbally or in writing
  • Identify and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses
  • Conduct investigations to determine liability and damages and distinguish allegations from facts
  • Evaluate and negotiate settlements within authority for first- and third-party claims in multiple markets
  • Use estimates, property, material damage, liability, total loss evaluations, claims analysis, claims technology, and related tools
  • Coordinate with internal and external departments
  • Respond quickly to customer needs and inquiries
  • Work overtime and holiday hours when required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • 1-3 years claims handling experience required
  • Working knowledge of claims administration best practices and procedures
  • Understanding of vehicle repair processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of fault assessment, negligence and subrogation principles required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, general computer software and claims software
  • Organization and planning recognition skills required
  • Oral and written communication skills required
  • Interpersonal skills required
  • Property and Casualty Insurance License, valid in selling state, preferred
  • May be required to obtain an Adjuster license as applicable in accordance with state law within 60 days
  • AAA participates in E-Verify
  • Occasional travel to off-site business meetings or conferences
