Job Description
Senior Data Engineer building scalable pipelines and data platforms for Moniepoint, Africa’s all-in-one financial platform. Optimising cloud data systems, accuracy, and model performance.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines processing large volumes of data
- Update and optimise the data platform for speed, scalability, and cost
- Coordinate with different functional teams to understand and meet their data needs
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy
- Solve general data-related problems
- Complete a take-home assessment during the hiring process
- Participate in a preliminary phone call with the recruiter
- Complete a technical interview with a Lead in the Engineering Team
- Complete a behavioural and technical interview with a member of the Executive team
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency with SQL
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure
- Experience using version control tools such as Git
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another related field
- Experience with data governance would be a plus
- Experience building and deploying machine learning models would be a plus
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools would be a plus
