Job Description

Senior DevOps Engineer at TELUS Agriculture tackling multi-cloud infrastructure challenges and driving automation solutions for SRE and engineering teams with significant operational impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build reusable platform solutions including Terraform modules, CI/CD workflows, golden VM and Docker images, and self-hosted runner infrastructure that engineering and SRE teams can leverage across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments
  • Drive the evolution of our GitOps practices by managing and expanding ArgoCD implementations for pull-based, de-authenticated deployments to Kubernetes clusters
  • Collaborate with SRE and engineering teams across business units to understand their infrastructure needs and translate them into scalable, maintainable automation solutions
  • Architect solutions that balance immediate delivery needs with long-term maintainability, avoiding technical debt that creates operational toil
  • Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems by building abstracted platforms that consolidate disparate infrastructure and reduce bespoke on-call support requirements
  • Provide technical guidance and cross-training to junior team members, sharing best practices around infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and cloud platform design
  • Troubleshoot complex multi-cloud infrastructure issues and develop monitoring solutions that reduce mean-time-to-resolution for platform and application problems

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or platform engineering role, with a proven track record of building reusable infrastructure solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Deep expertise provisioning and managing highly-available infrastructure across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, and GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services and building self-service tooling for GCP environments
  • Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform, for building modular and maintainable infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, AWS ECS, or similar services, and understanding of microservices and distributed application architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to design CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions with long-term maintainability in mind, avoiding shortcuts that create future technical debt
  • Proficiency with automation scripting using Bash, Python, or PowerShell to eliminate manual toil
  • Strong understanding of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and firewalls in cloud environments
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide guidance to team members
