Job Description

Senior Director of Communications at Gainwell Technologies shaping external communications for Medicaid technology. Leading brand visibility and strategic media relationships in public health sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a proactive communications strategy that builds trust, increases brand visibility, and enhances Gainwell’s reputation with key public-sector and healthcare audiences.
  • Drive thought leadership that positions Gainwell as a modern, mission-driven partner for Medicaid transformation—fast-tracking our presence in national and industry media.
  • Move quickly from strategy to execution, using agency partners, rapid content development, and strong narrative instincts to seize timely opportunities.
  • Craft compelling, high-impact communications for company leaders, including the CEO and CMO—LinkedIn posts, op-eds, remarks, and media soundbites.
  • Develop a drumbeat of external messaging tied to news moments, policy shifts, and Gainwell’s innovation efforts (e.g., AI, analytics, pharmacy carve-out, provider modernization).
  • Partner with growth marketing, government relations, and campaign teams to embed messaging into events, campaigns, and legislative outreach.
  • Oversee public relations agency relationships and drive media results across trade, national, healthcare, tech, and state policy press.
  • Pitch and place stories that reflect Gainwell’s unique value in the Medicaid space—particularly related to access, cost containment, and care quality.
  • Serve as a key advisor and hands-on partner in issue response and reputation risk management.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in external communications, public relations, or corporate reputation, preferably in healthcare, technology, or the public sector.
  • Demonstrated success rapidly raising the visibility and credibility of a brand or company.
  • Expert writer and editor, with the ability to translate complex policy and technology topics into clear, compelling content.
  • Comfortable working without direct reports; skilled at leading agency partners and collaborating across internal teams.
  • Media savvy, deadline-driven, and motivated by outcomes, not process.
  • Experience advising C-level executives and managing external reputational risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or Public Policy a plus.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid, state government operations, or health tech policy preferred.

Benefits:

  • generous, flexible vacation policy
  • 401(k) employer match
  • comprehensive health benefits
  • educational assistance
  • leadership and technical development academies
