Job Description

Senior specialist supporting complex industrial motor and drive applications for ESR Motor Systems. Developing technical solutions, manufacturer selections, and customer-ready quote packages.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex quotations for large and medium-voltage motors, drives, and major projects from initial RFQ through order handoff.
  • Support inside and outside sales teams with motor selection, application questions, specifications, and technical problem-solving.
  • Review RFQs, specifications, bid packages, drawings, nameplates, and existing equipment information to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Select replacements for obsolete motors and equipment, including frame upgrades, dimensional evaluations, and manufacturer substitutions.
  • Cross-reference products between manufacturers and identify technically appropriate alternatives.
  • Evaluate horsepower, speed, voltage, frequency, enclosure and cooling method, bearings, thrust, service factor, starting requirements, hazardous locations, mounting, and other application considerations.
  • Specify accessories and instrumentation including space heaters, RTDs, vibration sensors, bearing temperature devices, and related options.
  • Support medium-voltage motor opportunities and provide drive application support.
  • Work directly with manufacturers to obtain selections, pricing, drawings, lead times, and technical clarification.
  • Identify specification exceptions, deviations, alternatives, and potential application issues before proposals are submitted.
  • Develop polished, professional quote packages presenting the proposed solution, scope of supply, technical data, drawings, options, exceptions, and supporting information.
  • Manage quotation revisions and technical clarifications as projects develop.
  • Work directly with customers when technical involvement can help define an application or advance an opportunity.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of electric motor, drive, or closely related industry experience preferred; strong candidates with 5+ years will be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial electric motors and motor applications.
  • Medium-voltage motor and/or medium-voltage drive experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with large motors, obsolete equipment replacements, frame conversions, and manufacturer cross-referencing.
  • Strong knowledge of motor enclosures and cooling methods including TEFC, WPI, WPII, TEAAC, TEWAC, and similar designs.
  • Familiarity with hazardous-location requirements, bearings, thrust applications, starting considerations, motor accessories, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret motor nameplates, dimensional drawings, specifications, bid documents, and other technical information.
  • Experience reviewing and responding to complex commercial and technical bid packages.
  • Ability to independently evaluate a complex RFQ, determine what should be offered, and develop a technically complete proposal.
  • Ability to organize complex technical and commercial information into a clear, polished, customer-ready quotation package.
  • Excellent communication, follow-up, organization, and attention to detail.
  • VFD application experience is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working with CRM, ERP, Microsoft Office, email, and other sales technology.
  • An engineering degree is not required; industry experience, technical judgment, and the ability to solve real-world motor and drive applications are valued.
