Job Description
Senior Quality Engineer building automated testing for Just Eat Takeaway.com’s courier logistics systems. Improving reliability, scalability, and release quality across its global online delivery platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and tooling
- Plan and execute comprehensive testing strategies across applications, APIs, and infrastructure
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams to ensure high-quality releases
- Define, track, and analyze quality metrics to continuously improve systems and processes
- Drive best practices in test automation, CI/CD, and quality engineering
- Perform exploratory and risk-based testing to uncover edge cases and improve resilience
- Contribute to documentation of business rules, systems, and testing strategies
- Assist development teams with bug investigation, including reporting, reproduction, and isolation
- Actively participate in the Agile software development cycle within a cross-functional team
- Support and mentor team members and help grow quality engineering as a discipline
- Report to the Technology Manager
- Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of systems powering the courier network at Just Eat Takeaway.com
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality engineering
- Strong experience with automated testing using JavaScript and/or Java is required
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Playwright, Appium, or similar frameworks is a must-have
- Previous exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with Kubernetes-based deployment platforms
- Strong experience with event-driven architectures such as Apache Kafka, pub/sub systems, and asynchronous processing patterns
- Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools such as RestAssured
- Familiarity with load and performance testing (e.g., K6) is a plus
- Strong knowledge of test automation design patterns and best practices
- Experience working in Agile, fast-paced, continuous delivery environments
- Comfortable working with Git-based version control systems
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Familiarity with SQL and non-SQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) is required
- Knowledge of Google BigQuery is a plus
- Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar is required
- Experience integrating AI into testing workflows
- Understanding of prompt engineering and evaluation of AI-generated outputs in a software engineering context
- Awareness of best practices for AI-driven testing, including reliability, reproducibility, and governance
- Must complete a consent for disclosure of personal information for a background check
