Job Description
Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer building scalable AI-powered companionship applications for millions of users. Developing backend features with Ruby on Rails alongside senior engineering leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby on Rails
- Build new features and improve existing platform functionality
- Work with Product Managers to translate requirements into technical solutions and estimate development efforts
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code
- Participate in code reviews, testing and technical decision-making
- Troubleshoot issues and improve application performance, reliability and scalability
- Collaborate with distributed engineering, product and infrastructure teams
- Work alongside the CTO, Tech Lead and wider engineering team on scalable, AI-powered applications
Requirements:
- 5+ years of commercial experience in backend or full-stack software engineering
- Strong, hands-on Ruby on Rails experience, ideally recent and in production
- Experience building and scaling production applications with real users
- Ability to take ownership of features from requirements through development, testing and deployment
- Previous experience in a startup, scale-up or similarly fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance code quality with delivery speed
- Excellent English and experience working with international teams
- Full comfort working with uncensored AI companionship products and explicit NSFW content
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus), and Tailwind CSS
- B2B contract arrangement preferred; flexible
