Job Description
Software Engineer building scalable Java and Spring Boot platforms for Evri’s UK parcel delivery network. Developing APIs, services and cloud-first solutions in a remote-first engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions
- Deliver features from concept and development through to deployment and support
- Build scalable APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Contribute to frontend development using Vue.js where required
- Develop and maintain applications and services using Node.js
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming and knowledge-sharing activities
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers and Delivery teams
- Support CI/CD pipelines, automation and DevOps practices
- Troubleshoot issues and improve system performance, reliability and maintainability
- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Commercial experience as a Software Engineer delivering production-grade software
- Strong backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and scalable services
- Exposure to modern frontend technologies, ideally Vue.js
- Experience working with Node.js
- Good understanding of software design principles, coding standards and engineering best practices
- Experience writing automated tests and maintaining code quality
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS
- Experience working within Agile environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git and DevOps principles
- Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for learning and continuously improving technical capability
