Job Description

Special Projects O&M Technician overseeing complex inspections and troubleshooting in high-voltage environments. Mentoring junior technicians and ensuring stringent adherence to project deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the premier technical field expert in our Special Projects division.
  • Work independently in high-voltage environments without direct supervision.
  • Lead complex inspections, specialized engineering project executions, advanced troubleshooting, and critical system diagnostics.
  • Oversee subcontracted labor and mentor junior technicians.
  • Create, review, and execute advanced Hazardous Electrical Energy Control procedures.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special projects, ensuring strict adherence to procedures, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Conduct visual, mechanical, and electrical inspections, testing, and advanced preventative maintenance.
  • Independently diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues and support project management.

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of demonstrated experience working with electrical systems, with specific experience in solar O&M, installation, or commissioning.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field highly preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required.
  • NFPA 70e certification required (NFPA 70b familiarity is a plus).
  • FAA Part 107 Certification (and proficiency operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes) required.
  • NABCEP certification (PV Installer, PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist, or O&M Specialist) is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy principles, grid-tied systems, power generation, and solar technologies.
  • Proficient in the use of specialized electrical and PV-specific diagnostic tools (e.g., I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers).
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
