Job Description

Strategic Finance Manager owning forecasts, operating models, and opportunity analysis at Jerry, an AI-powered advisor for car, home, and motorcycle ownership.

Responsibilities:

  • Own Jerry’s driver-based operating model for the base business and expand it for new insurance products and business lines
  • Run the annual budget and long-range planning process end to end
  • Own monthly and quarterly forecast cycles and variance analysis
  • Explain financial movements against plan and prior period and their implications for the forecast
  • Write executive financial narratives for the CFO, founders, board, and investors
  • Lead monthly business reviews with functional leaders
  • Evaluate and implement a planning system, including recommendation and rollout
  • Build financial models for new products, verticals, channels, and partnerships
  • Size markets, model economics, and evaluate capital commitments and returns
  • Compare actual economics with underwriting assumptions and carry lessons into future decisions
  • Monitor CAC, payback, policy retention, lifetime value, and contribution margin
  • Support corporate development, capital markets, investor workstreams, diligence, modeling, and transaction analysis
  • Frame build, buy, or partner decisions and compare return profiles
  • Underwrite vendor spend, build business cases, support term negotiations, and provide budget visibility
  • Report to the VP of Finance and work closely with the CFO, founders, and functional leaders

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Ideally, 2+ years at a reputable investment bank, corporate development group, or private equity firm, combined with 2+ years in strategic finance or FP&A at a high-growth company
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a similarly quantitative field
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including driver-based operating models, three-statement mechanics, scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Working command of accounting concepts and GAAP
  • Experience with unit economics in a consumer or marketplace business, including CAC, LTV, payback, cohort retention, and contribution margin
  • Track record of translating complex analysis into a clear narrative for executive or investor audiences
  • Startup or high-growth experience strongly preferred, including building financial processes from scratch
  • Hands-on fluency with AI tools for analysis, research, and workflow automation
  • CFA certification, vendor negotiation or procurement exposure, and finance tech stack experience are nice to have
  • Must currently reside in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, or Ontario, Canada
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada
