Job Description
Senior systems engineer designing and automating Netflix’s globally distributed storage platforms for content creation. Owning reliability, observability, upgrades, and infrastructure-as-code delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement, and support technology solutions for content creation at Netflix
- Own the architecture, deployment, and lifecycle of high-performance storage platforms including Dell PowerScale (OneFS) and NetApp (ONTAP)
- Manage file, block, and object workloads across globally distributed sites
- Automate storage infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Build and own observability for the storage fleet, including metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, capacity and performance monitoring, and proactive alerting
- Design and build services that improve experiences and productivity for post-production, animation, visual effects, and other creative populations
- Develop, script, and automate production-system solutions
- Deploy solutions and ensure successful integration with existing system architecture
- Participate in storage upgrades, data migrations, and troubleshooting
- Identify potential issues and implement solutions that ensure system reliability and stability
- Collaborate with engineering teams, internal and external partners, technical creatives, production teams, and business and product teams
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience building and developing compute, storage, and connectivity tooling for end-user product experiences
- Deep hands-on expertise operating and automating enterprise storage platforms at scale
- Production experience with Dell PowerScale / OneFS and/or NetApp / ONTAP
- Experience with SMB/NFS, snapshots, replication, tiering, quotas, and performance tuning
- Strong Terraform skills, including modules, state, and providers
- Track record automating storage and adjacent infrastructure provisioning
- Deep technical understanding of large-scale computing infrastructure, operating systems, and high-performance file, block, and object storage technologies
- Understanding of scaled networking challenges
- Ability to dissect complex systems into sub-components and optimize them individually and collectively
- Passion for automation, efficiency, and scale
- Ability to collaborate with business and product teams on product plans and roadmaps and own hands-on implementation
- Ability to identify high-leverage, high-value work without explicit direction

- Data-driven strategies, thorough analytics, and real-time insights for strategic and operational decisions
- Strong observability principles and ability to instrument storage systems for visibility into capacity, performance, and health
