Job Description

Staff Tax Accountant managing sales and use tax compliance while assisting with broader tax activities in a growing SaaS environment. Collaborating with Finance and external tax advisors for accurate filings and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate tax nexus and the changing sales tax nexus rules
  • Own Avalara tax configuration, reconciliation and tie out to billing and revenue
  • Complete all sales tax returns and ensure accuracy
  • Evaluate invoices for use tax
  • Accrue taxes and reconcile all tax accounts
  • Coordinate data requests with third-party tax preparers and review prepared work, including income tax provisions.
  • Manage Transfer pricing studies and Support for transfer pricing
  • Manage RD tax credit process and support
  • Review VAT returns
  • Assist with month end close, account reconciliations and other accounting work
  • Engage with operating company personnel, third-party advisors, and taxing authorities on tax provision, compliance, planning, and controversy issues.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline compliance processes and drive efficiencies through automation.
  • Actively seek and identify potential tax planning opportunities for the organization.
  • Understand the organization's business operations and contribute to problem resolution when tax-related issues arise.
  • Other duties as requested.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Tax is required.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in preparing and/or reviewing sales and use tax returns.
  • Nice to have experience coordinating federal and state corporate income tax returns.
  • 3-5+ years of technical and practical knowledge of sales/use taxes is required.
  • Nice to have experience in corporate accounting for income taxes.
  • Proficiency in key software, NetSuite, Zuora, Tax Preparation software.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with tax technical and research skills, enabling navigation of complex tax regulations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and in a central or eastern time zone without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
