Job Description
Revenue Accountant at Whisker Labs, managing revenue recognition and compliance with ASC 606 standards. Collaborating with teams to ensure accurate financial operations and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the revenue recognition process and all related tasks, from contract review to customer billing to revenue deferrals and recognition as part of the monthly close process
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Assist with sales tax process, including collaboration with Operations team
- Prepare revenue reports, metrics, analyses and other ad-hoc duties within the Finance team as needed
- Liaise between other members of the Finance group as well as key members of the operations team to ensure seamless operations
- Support team efforts to continuously improve and gain operation efficiencies by creating and maintaining documentation for internal training, workflow processes, and communication/troubleshooting
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly with revenue recognition and Accounting Standard ASC 606
- Minimum of a 4-year College degree and/or related certification in Accounting preferred
- Maniacal attention to detail and unrelenting focus on accuracy in all duties and processes required
- Expert-level Excel skills are required
- Experience with software implementations/migrations and revenue related systems and tools a strong plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex accounting information in a clear and understandable manner.
- A strong team player with the flexibility to adapt to rotating schedules and the demands of a startup environment.
