Job Description
Tax Director leading tax advisory and compliance for an accounting firm serving business owners and high-net-worth clients. Managing teams, complex returns, client relationships, and strategic growth.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of tax advisors and preparers
- Drive Tax Advisory Services engagements for Prime and Elite clients, including proactive planning and multi-scenario tax strategy
- Own the quality and consistency of the tax compliance practice
- Serve as the senior client-facing presence for complex business-owner, high-net-worth individual, and multi-entity engagements
- Build and maintain technical training, quality assurance processes, and feedback loops
- Act as the firm’s senior technical authority for tax compliance and advisory matters
- Participate in the firm’s leadership team and contribute to strategic direction
- Deliver exceptional client experiences, retain high-value clients, and grow advisory relationships
Requirements:
- CPA required
- 10+ years of public accounting experience with meaningful time in a leadership or review capacity
- Deep expertise in tax planning, compliance, and complex business and individual return review
- Mastery of tax strategy development
- Ability to quickly diagnose client situations and develop tactics to mitigate tax exposure
- Deep fluency in individual and business taxation, including 1040s, 1120-S, 1065, multi-state, and multi-entity structures
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships at the advisory level
- Experience managing or developing tax staff
- Comfort working in a growing firm and bringing structure
- Leadership, coaching, motivation, and accountability skills
- Strategic thinking, technical acumen, problem-solving, ownership, and advisory mindset
