Job Description

Technical Program Director leading complex, cross-functional engineering programs at Cast & Crew, an entertainment technology and services provider. Managing delivery governance, budgets, dependencies, risks, and executive communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical implementation of complex strategic initiatives spanning product, engineering, and data teams
  • Establish and maintain scope, schedule, and budget baselines
  • Maintain a single source of truth for program status
  • Build integrated program plans and dependency maps across engineering, product, QA, data, and operations
  • Run program-management cadences including RAID logs, steering committees, change control, and milestone gates
  • Track budget burn and forecast variance
  • Own status reports, steering committee updates, and stakeholder working sessions
  • Provide clear, actionable updates to the CTO and executive stakeholders
  • Connect teams and facilitate decisions
  • Identify risks and blockers proactively and drive resolution or mitigation plans
  • Escalate blockers appropriately
  • Manage cross-team engineering, infrastructure, vendor, and third-party dependencies
  • Track program spend and resource allocation with engineering leadership and finance
  • Oversee third-party or vendor workstreams where applicable
  • Ensure business stakeholders understand changes, timing, and operational impact
  • Run formal change management for scope, timeline, and sequencing changes
  • Report directly to the CTO
  • Potentially hire and lead a small team of Program or Project Managers as the portfolio grows

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of specific, relevant experience leading complex, technical, cross-functional programs
  • PMP certification or equivalent demonstrated program management rigor
  • Track record managing programs with real budget, staffing, and executive accountability
  • Fluency with structured (waterfall/stage-gate) and Agile delivery models
  • Demonstrated proficiency using LLM tools, particularly Claude Cowork
  • Ability to set up and manage AI projects with scheduled, automated tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort operating across multiple concurrent, high-visibility initiatives
  • Experience standing up or maturing a PMO function or program-governance model inside an engineering organization
  • Hands-on proficiency with program/PPM tooling such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or MS Project
  • Preferred: experience in payroll, HR technology, entertainment/media production finance, or another regulated, operationally complex domain
  • Preferred: experience managing vendor or systems-integrator relationships on technical delivery programs
  • Additional certifications such as PgMP, SAFe, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus
  • Ability to work in California-Remote
