Job Description
Thumbnail Designer responsible for producing high-performing thumbnails for the Liam Ottley YouTube channel. Collaborating closely with the Head of Content to ensure alignment with strategy and audience engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Research & Ideation
- Analyze competitor thumbnails in the AI, business, and creator space to identify winning patterns
- Translate video ideas and titles into clear thumbnail concepts
- Propose multiple conceptual directions per video
- Design & Execution
- Design on-brand, mobile-first thumbnails optimized for CTR
- Execute quickly without sacrificing clarity or polish
- Deliver upload-ready assets in required formats
- Collaboration & Iteration
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Content on strategy, narrative, brand alignment and messaging
- Iterate based on feedback and performance data
- Communicate clearly around timelines and revisions
- Operational Excellence
- Hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain clean files and versioning
- Support A/B testing and performance-driven iteration
Requirements:
- Proven YouTube thumbnail experience with real performance results
- Strong grasp of YouTube psychology (curiosity, clarity, contrast, emotion)
- Concept-first thinker with strong visual taste
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable with tight collaboration
- Experience in AI, tech, business, or creator education
- Familiarity with A/B testing and performance signals
- Motion or lightweight animation skills
