Job Description

Design Drafter I managing design/drafting projects and providing design solutions for manufacturing and product changes. Prepares documentation and collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage design/drafting projects from concept to completion
  • Provides design solutions for design/development projects and product change requests
  • Prepare product documentation, checking the dimensions of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure.
  • Drawings to include but are not limited to the following: System/component model, installation/layout/ weldment/assembly drawings, piece part drawings, and isometric drawings
  • Utilize red-lined drawings, engineering change requests, and any instructions supplied to prepare revised drawings incorporating dimensional change or pertinent data
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
  • Uses computer assisted drawings (2D/3D CAD) equipment and software
  • Interact with engineering and manufacturing personnel to solve any problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and to document the corrective action
  • Participate in design reviews to determine the feasibility of proposed designs and offer opinions for product improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum one-year college or trade school education in mechanical drawing and related areas with a minimum of two years of on-the-job experience
  • Minimum four years on-the-job experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD software (experience with SolidWorks 2008 or newer is strongly preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand English instructions.
  • Individuals must possess basic Algebra skills.
