Job Description
Retirement plan consultant preparing documents, compliance tests, IRS filings, and distributions. Servicing defined contribution clients and supporting 401(k) plan implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares defined contribution plan documents
- Prepares and conducts plan year-end non-discrimination testing, including ADP, ACP, Top-heavy, 410(b), 415, and 414(s)
- Prepares IRS filings, including 5500, 5558, and 5330, and assists auditors
- Processes distributions, including withdrawals, in-service distributions, RMDs, loans, and hardships
- Maintains ongoing client contact to assist with day-to-day service issues and vendor management
- Works with vendors to automate data collection and analysis
- Maintains client and due diligence files
- Records notes at meetings and prepares minutes for various investment committees
- Assists with plan applications, plan document review, and plan implementation
- Supports the 401(k) Department with general industry knowledge
- Researches and supports initiatives to increase efficiency, productivity, compliance, and profitability
- Complies with agency management system data standards and maintains complete and accurate information
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two (2) or more years of related work experience
- Understanding of retirement plan types and operations, as well as knowledge of ERISA guidelines and regulations
- Experience with small to mid-size (250+) clients
- Strong understanding of IRS & ERISA Regulations
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, negotiating, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate information to a broad audience
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability and motivation to work independently
- Good leadership and time management skills
- Good planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Advanced analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
