Job Description

Classification and compensation consultant leading transit job studies for AlphaGov, a public-sector consulting firm. Applying job evaluation, market pricing, and classification expertise for large transit authorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead job analysis through position questionnaires, employee and supervisor interviews, and job description updates for hundreds of positions
  • Apply point-factor or similar job evaluation methods
  • Build or refine classification structures and job families
  • Benchmark transit-specific jobs against peer transit agencies
  • Support employee communication, appeals, and implementation planning
  • Present findings to executive leadership and governing boards
  • Contribute qualifications and past-performance narrative to AlphaGov proposals when permissioned

Requirements:

  • Seven or more years in classification and compensation, including large public-sector or transit employers
  • Hands-on point-factor job evaluation and job description writing for large position inventories
  • Experience benchmarking jobs and building classification structures and pay ranges
  • Strong written and presentation skills for executives and boards
  • Comfortable as a 1099 / project-based collaborator with travel as needed
  • HR, classification, or compensation role at a transit authority (nice to have)
  • Experience with represented and non-represented transit workforces (nice to have)
  • CCP or SPHR / SHRM-SCP certification (nice to have)
  • Experience with Texas public employers (nice to have)
