Job Description
Underwriting Manager leading growth and high-impact fleet insurance at Nirvana. Developing and coaching underwriters while shaping organization strategy and decision-making in dynamic environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 4–6 experienced Fleet Underwriters
- Drive underwriting execution that balances growth, profitability, and risk discipline
- Partner with Business Development to support monthly, quarterly, and annual production goals
- Serve as a key point of contact for agents, brokers, and external partners
- Own team workflows, including referrals, authority levels, and underwriting standards
- Collaborate with senior leadership on underwriting strategy, process improvements, and long-term innovation
- Foster a culture of accountability, thoughtful decision-making, and continuous learning
Requirements:
- Deep experience underwriting commercial transportation risks, ideally within trucking
- Demonstrated success leading, coaching, or managing underwriting teams
- Strong underwriting judgment and comfort making decisions in dynamic environments
- Clear, confident communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to set goals, prioritize work, and drive outcomes through others
- Experience managing or collaborating with distributed or remote teams (nice-to-have)
- Exposure to high-growth or startup environments (nice-to-have)
- Interest in technology-enabled underwriting or data-driven risk models (nice-to-have)
