Job Description

Underwriting Assistant supporting underwriting lifecycle and broker relationships for insurance transactions. Timely policy issuance, compliance, and operational support to ensure accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, efficient, and accurate support to Underwriting with respect to issuing policies
  • Create policy documents which represent the insurance transaction bound by the underwriter
  • Ensure statistical coding and policy issuance complies with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain electronic and/or physical underwriting file
  • Solicit renewal transactions
  • Provide operational support for the product line’s underwriters
  • Work with the unit underwriters to bind, book, and issue policies
  • Review policies for accuracy and regulatory standards
  • Input policy and underwriting data in appropriate systems
  • Make direct contact with brokers and their assistants

Requirements:

  • Workers Compensation experience required
  • Prior industry and business segment experience including Property, General Liability and Commercial Auto is a plus
  • Applied knowledge of underwriting fundamentals and standard industry practices
  • Understanding of basic financial principles and processes
  • Understanding of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercising critical thinking skills
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people daily, in person, via telephone and email
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail are essential
  • Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Word)
