Job Description
UX/UI Designer developing innovative user experience designs to improve satisfaction with Skillable's products. Collaborating with engineering teams to create workflows and designs that meet stakeholder needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop modern and innovative user experience designs that enable customers to maximize the value of Skillable products
- Serve as a partner to product and engineering teams, ensuring strong communication and collaboration to create workflows and UX/UI designs that address the needs of all stakeholders
- Translate product briefs and requirements into detailed user flows, wireframes, and screens
- Document current and desired workflows to support alignment across Product Management, Technical Product Management, and Engineering
- Support usability and functionality improvements across legacy and new product areas
- Create clear, well-organized design deliverables to support efficient handoff and implementation
- Collaborate in a remote work setting, with cross-functional partners in an environment with evolving priorities
- Balance user needs with technical and business constraints to deliver feasible design solutions
- Create designs and intuitive, functional, user interfaces while placing heavy value on patterns and reusable components
- Partner with Developers and Product Managers on design system management within Figma
- Proactively consider accessibility standards in every UX design
- Work with product marketing to support in-product messaging assets
- Execute work with minimal supervision, maintaining a focus on quality and timeliness
- Partner with product & engineering stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
- Actively participate in trainings/knowledge sharing to expand role scope and responsibilities
- Propose process improvements to enhance the overall UX/UI design of Skillable products
- Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis
- Other strategic business initiatives or special cross-functional project involvement as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, User Experience, Computer Science, Interactive Design or relevant professional experience
- 5+ years designing and building interactive prototypes and mockups, translating user needs and business requirements into intuitive, visually polished user interfaces
- Experience and understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS), content creation, and/or content delivery systems highly desired
- Experience designing complex or legacy systems, with a focus on incremental improvements
- Experience working with Figma Design, leveraging an existing design system and style guide
- Experience working with MUI (Google’s Material UI design system) or similar component libraries in close collaboration with engineering teams
- Strong documentation and organizational skills, including the ability to produce clear annotations and structured files for engineering teams
- Adaptability and comfort working within constraints (time, feasibility, legacy frameworks, and limited design infrastructure)
- Ability and willingness to participate in multiple technical projects concurrently
- Experience designing for developer tools, enterprise platforms, or other technical domains is a plus
- Experience working cross-functionally and promoting collaborative partnerships to drive results
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to various audiences/levels, both internal and external stakeholders, through various mediums
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload and meet project deadlines
- A high level of confidence, integrity, and professional courtesy
- Strong Microsoft suite experience, including teams or similar web conferencing and internal communication software experience preferred
- Naturally inquisitive with a desire to learn, solve problems and dig into detailed analysis
- Experience working in a fully remote team is preferred, but not required
- Thorough understanding (or willingness to learn expeditiously) of business operations and processes
- Proactively addresses challenges, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
- Adept at troubleshooting in fast-paced environments and implementing corrective actions swiftly
