Job Description
Worker Engagement Specialist deploying digital worker voice programs for African suppliers. Training management, engaging workers, and managing grievances to improve labor conditions and supply-chain accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead deployment of digital worker voice programs in French-speaking African nations
- Lead supplier platform training and technical support
- Manage grievance cases and liaise with suppliers and brands
- Provide investigation and remediation support when requested by brands
- Develop and update supplier and worker onboarding materials
- Manage regular communication with supplier management from program introduction through status check-ins
- Liaise with the Director of Client Services, Client Services Senior Managers and Managers, and Deployment Team
- Gather client and supplier feedback to inform platform advancements
- Engage with workers, suppliers and brands to promote participation and achieve positive outcomes
Requirements:
- Based in Africa, specifically one of the listed eligible countries
- Social compliance or labour rights background
- Knowledge and experience in supply chains, corporate sourcing, ethical procurement, grievance mechanisms, social impact, sustainability, international development, social impact technology, and/or business and human rights
- 5+ years’ experience working within the global supply chain industry and delivering social or labour impact projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
- Organized, conscientious and accountable
- Experience in customer/client services and delivery
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally occasionally
- Understanding of labour, human and community rights issues in global supply chains
- Knowledge and experience in community relations and corporate social responsibility programs
- Experience adopting new technology and training others to use it
- Self-motivated, tolerant of ambiguity and change, and able to take ownership of projects
- Passion for equality and safe workplaces
- Familiarity with auditing industry and international certification standards such as BSCI, ETI and SA8000, grievance mechanisms, industry associations and sustainability entities such as SEDEX is a plus
