Job Description
Bilingual Referral & Authorization Coordinator managing Epic workflows for cardiology practices. Verifying insurance eligibility and securing specialty-visit authorizations for U.S. healthcare patients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full referral lifecycle, including intake, clinical documentation gathering, processing, tracking to completion, and closing in Epic EMR
- Monitor and efficiently manage Epic referral and authorization workqueues daily to prevent care delays
- Communicate fluently in English and Spanish with patients, referring provider offices, and insurance carriers
- Clarify details and resolve authorization roadblocks
- Verify patient coverage and plan benefits
- Navigate complex HMO/PPO payer guidelines
- Secure timely prior authorizations for specialty office visits and outpatient consults
- Maintain accurate status notes and patient records in Epic for high-volume compliance and transparency
Requirements:
- Proficiency using Epic EMR, preferably experience handling Epic referral/authorization workqueues
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with written and verbal fluency required
- Minimum of 2+ years dedicated to Referral Coordination and/or Prior Authorization within a U.S.-based medical practice
- Proven experience handling office visit authorizations and end-to-end referral workflows
- Thorough understanding of U.S. insurance carriers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial HMO/PPO plans, and authorization requirements
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume workload
- Full-time contractor position, 40 hours per week
- Availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time
