Job Description
CAPEX Accounting Manager overseeing U.S. GAAP accounting, reporting, and controls for data center construction investments. Managing close, debt, equity, intercompany, and project-finance accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead accounting, financial reporting, and controls for capital expenditures across the company's data center development portfolio
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete capital project accounting under U.S. GAAP, including construction-cost capitalization, CIP, fixed assets, and project closeouts
- Partner with Development, Construction, Procurement, FP&A, and Project Controls throughout the project lifecycle
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Oversee accounting close for operating expenses, debt, equity, intercompany transactions, and other balance sheet accounts
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Perform analytical reviews, investigate variances, and resolve accounting issues
- Improve close processes through automation, standardization, and stronger internal controls
- Manage accounting for construction loans, revolving credit facilities, project financings, debt modifications, debt issuance costs, interest expense, and debt amortization
- Prepare and maintain debt rollforwards and supporting schedules
- Account for capital contributions, distributions, equity issuances, ownership changes, intercompany loans, capital calls, and financing transactions
- Partner with Treasury and Corporate Development on financing transactions and capital structure initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required
- 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years with a Big Four public accounting firm
- Experience leading month-end close in a multi-entity environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience preparing or reviewing consolidations and intercompany eliminations
- Experience supporting external audits and working directly with auditors
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred
- Preferred: experience in data centers, commercial real estate, infrastructure, renewable energy, construction, or other capital-intensive industries
- Preferred: experience in a private equity-backed organization
- Preferred: familiarity with project accounting and joint venture accounting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to partner across Finance and Operations
