Job Description
Consultant supporting aquaculture welfare project in Brazil, collaborating with farms and partners. Delivering training, assessments, and project coordination for sustainable practices.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Aquaculture Welfare Project in Brazil, working with farms and partner companies
- Work with the Program Manager and other consultants to deliver training and capacity building
- Implement the Tilapia Welfare Assessment protocol
- Conduct on-farm welfare assessments
- Evaluate project partners against certification standards such as BAP and ASC
- Support FAI's R&D activities
- Produce technical briefings, literature reviews, case studies and reports on tilapia welfare, nutrition, health, environment and behavior
- Provide recommendations for improvement actions
- Verify and analyze assessment data
- Prepare reports using FAI data tools
- Monitor the implementation of welfare practices by partners and support planning
- Produce engagement content
Requirements:
- Degree in Aquaculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine or related fields (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience in food supply chains (with a focus on fish farming), sustainability consulting or fish welfare
- Knowledge of BAP and ASC certifications or aquaculture improvement projects
- Proven track record of collaborative work with teams and partners
- Ability to produce high-quality technical materials
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) and data management
- Advanced English (written and spoken)
