Job Description

Crop insurance adjuster assessing agricultural losses for ProAg’s Oklahoma farm territories. Conducting field inspections, evaluating claims, and supporting American farmers and ranchers.

Responsibilities:

  • Make first contact with policyholders on farms or ranches after a loss
  • Complete field inspections, read maps and aerial photos, measure fields and storage bins, and collect production records
  • Assess damage or loss and manage claims through settlement
  • Apply judgment, common sense, adjusting guidelines, and policy provisions to Multi-Peril Crop Insurance, Crop Hail, and Named Peril policies
  • Perform fact-finding to determine causes and percentages of loss
  • Exercise independent judgment in handling claims
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Area Claims Supervisor
  • Explain regulations and procedures to claimants, agents, and industry personnel
  • Communicate the company’s position on developing industry topics, including new specialty crops and expanding coverage programs
  • Expand knowledge of RMA rules, regulations, and ProAg procedures

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Crop insurance experience in claims or compliance or any ag-related experience and background
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer and internet applications
  • Communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Reliable means of transportation and willingness to travel
  • Completion of Claim Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) certification and/or applicable licenses required by state agencies preferred
  • Ability to work regularly in the field on farms, climb grain bins, and walk over rough terrain for long distances
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%, occasionally beyond the assigned territory
