Job Description
Design Manager leading colocation and hyper-scale data center projects for AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm. Overseeing multidisciplinary design teams from due diligence through construction administration.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee colocation and hyper-scale data center projects from site due diligence, campus planning, conceptual/schematic/detailed design through construction documents and construction administration
- Lead data center due diligence and design teams across architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, fire protection, ICT, and BMS/EPMS disciplines
- Develop and enforce multi-site project and program management plans
- Host and attend meetings with clients and external stakeholders
- Proactively manage and communicate project changes within AECOM and to clients
- Identify problems early and develop creative solutions
- Communicate project updates to stakeholders and resolve outstanding issues
- Develop technical and financial proposals for new and add/move/change data center design projects
- Develop trusting relationships with client stakeholders and buyers
- Travel occasionally for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, and other business-critical activities
- Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects
- Participate in a hands-on, client-facing role with opportunities for career mobility
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, plus ten (10) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License preferred
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- 12 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred
- Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional preferred
- Active or recent leadership in a data center and mission-critical trade organization preferred
- 12 years in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management and engineering preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situations with minimal oversight
- Team leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Eligible to work in the United States
