Job Description
Senior Staff Experience Designer shaping Airbnb’s global travel platform for regional needs across EMEA, Latin America, and APAC. Leading complex product design, strategy, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with writers, researchers, product specialists, and engineers to build beautiful, usable, forward-looking products
- Shape the evolution of the Airbnb platform from a design perspective
- Ensure consistency with and contribute to brand and product architecture
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Researchers, and Writers to define problems and goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch products and services
- Influence leadership decision-making through a clear point of view
- Define and solve highly complex problems autonomously
- Provide indirect leadership and mentorship for designers through end-to-end interaction and visual design
- Anticipate business challenges and independently create product solutions
- Indirectly lead multidisciplinary teams as the de facto creative director of innovative projects
- Build relationships with leaders inside and outside core product teams
- Understand technological, business, and user opportunities and constraints
- Scope project work with PMs and engineers and help define design processes and timelines
- Shape Airbnb's presence across EMEA, Latin America, and APAC by adapting global products to regional needs and feeding market insights into product strategy
- Define and deliver an international roadmap spanning tactical UI improvements and strategic initiatives
- Model AI-enabled ways of working and provide senior design leadership
- Report to a Manager or Director of Experience Design as an individual contributor
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and progressive experience
- 12+ years of experience as a designer/design leader
- Excellent visual and interaction skills and craft
- Ability to define design direction and process and lead others through it
- Ability to accurately scope personal and teammate work
- Ability to motivate and drive small to medium teams
- Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, set vision, and set strategy for global products
- Systems-thinking ability extending beyond digital interfaces to offline experiences
- Experience making complex information, tools, and services easily digestible
- Strong storytelling, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience designing platforms and systems
- Experience managing and collaborating with research and writing disciplines
- 0-to-1 experience or experience redesigning major elements of product, experience, or service design
