Job Description

Digital hardware engineer leading complex electronics design for Frontgrade’s mission-critical aerospace and defense systems. Driving development from architecture through production and mentoring engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead digital hardware development from concept and architecture through schematic capture, PCB layout, verification, qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering
  • Act as the technical design authority for complex product development projects
  • Identify and resolve complex hardware issues during development and post-production
  • Collaborate with software, firmware, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to integrate hardware and software solutions
  • Create detailed design documentation, testing procedures, and other relevant information
  • Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost
  • Mentor engineers across multiple experience levels
  • Lead design reviews
  • Lead moderate-complexity design projects, define basic concepts for engineering problems, and implement action plans to improve project performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or 12 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline, or 6 years of experience may be considered with a Master’s Degree, or 3 years of experience may be considered with a PhD
  • Access to technology, materials, software or hardware may require obtaining a U.S. Government export license under ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws
  • Design experience with ARM or Intel based microprocessors (preferred)
  • Design experience with AMD and/or Lattice FPGAs (preferred)
  • Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer (preferred)
  • Experience designing, constraining, and integrating high-speed interfaces such as PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, and DDR4 (preferred)
  • High current/low voltage switching power supply experience (preferred)
  • Experience collaborating with embedded software and firmware engineers (preferred)
  • Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI (preferred)
  • Experience in radiation-hardened or high-reliability design (preferred)
