Job Description

Embedded Software Engineer developing firmware and connected technologies for IDEX’s industrial fluid-handling products. Architecting solutions across Linux, RTOS, mobile, IoT, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the long-term technical vision and influence multi-year engineering decisions and culture
  • Analyze customer needs, market trends, and technical risks to support product strategy
  • Design innovative systems for strategic projects, including clean-sheet product development
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, promote continuous learning, and serve as a technical resource for engineering teams
  • Lead the software development lifecycle from concept through release
  • Define system architecture and requirements
  • Design algorithms and develop firmware and embedded applications using object-oriented principles
  • Perform verification and validation to ensure quality and reliability
  • Apply Agile, SDLC, SEBoK, and PLM methodologies
  • Establish and maintain development tools and processes
  • Perform competitive analysis and remove obstacles to efficient execution
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop and present technical proposals
  • Facilitate resolution of complex issues and drive stakeholder-aligned strategies
  • May require up to 10% travel
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of applicable post-graduate industrial manufacturing experience required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of object-oriented software development using Rust, Python, Java/JavaScript, C++, and C#
  • Minimum 3-5 years of application development for embedded Linux, Android, and iOS platforms
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Linux system administration and support
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience using IDEs, including Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse
  • Minimum 3-5 years of implementing RTOS for MCU-based control systems
  • Minimum 3-5 years of developing and integrating RS232/485, CAN, MQTT, Modbus, and Ethernet protocols
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working with MCU peripherals including UART, USB, GPIO, I2C, SPI, PWM, Timers, eMMC, and SoM architectures
  • Proven ability to architect, implement, and deploy complex technical solutions
  • Proficiency using Bitbucket/Git, Jenkins, Docker, Jira, and SonarQube static analysis
  • Familiarity with interpreting hardware schematics for debugging
  • Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, and micro-services for cloud computing solutions involving Digital Twin, SaaS, PaaS, DaaS, and Data Lakes
  • Electro-mechanical experience in industrial or automotive products preferred
  • Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred
