Job Description

Sixth-grade teacher delivering instruction and student support remotely for Kansas Connections Academy, a tuition-free online K–12 public school. Managing grading, learning plans, testing, and family communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure successful completion of instructional programs
  • Support the instructional program through asynchronous web conferencing and synchronous instruction
  • Complete grading and conduct parent conferences
  • Communicate with parents, students, and teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules
  • Provide feedback on student work and suggest instructional approaches and strategies
  • Monitor assignment completion and coach special projects
  • Maintain knowledge of the K-12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of assigned grades
  • Provide alternate strategies and additional assistance with assignments and projects
  • Maintain current student records, attendance accounting, and student and parent contact logs
  • Collaborate with team members and staff learning specialists on enrichment activities and program modifications
  • Create and maintain a virtual school community
  • Proctor benchmark and diagnostic tests
  • Participate in State Testing as directed
  • Attend field trips and community activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Highly qualified and certified to teach grade 6 in Kansas
  • Applicants with a current teaching license from another state will be considered, provided they can transfer or obtain a Kansas teaching license upon hire
  • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and punctual

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and diverse community members
