Job Description

Online High School PE/Health Teacher delivering personalized virtual instruction for Michigan students. Monitoring progress, supporting families, and preparing learners for standardized tests through Stride’s education platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specific high school PE/Health course content in an online environment
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
  • Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Maintain the grade book and make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Augment course content using prescribed synchronous and asynchronous tools
  • Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions

Requirements:

  • Must reside in Michigan
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Michigan Teaching Certification with a PE/Health certificate
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
  • Experience with the proposed age group preferred
  • Experience supporting adults and children with technology preferred
  • Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment preferred
  • Experience with online learning platforms preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and adapt rapidly to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
