Job Description

Engineer I designing and delivering API 682 wet seal systems for John Crane, a global flow-control solutions provider. Creating drawings, calculations, datasheets, and engineering deliverables for industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret project requirements and deliverables for API 682 auxiliary sealant systems and auxiliary units upon order receipt
  • Schedule jobs and plan resources within internal and external system engineering teams
  • Attend kick-off meetings with Bidding, Contracts, and Operations teams
  • Review supplier quotations and perform technical alignment
  • Design and release Engineered-to-Order wet seal system General Arrangement Drawings using Solid Edge and engineering management tools
  • Size system components, auxiliary piping, valves, and instrumentation, and prepare datasheets
  • Perform thermal, mechanical, and pressure-vessel design calculations
  • Create Bills of Material in SAP and manage drawings in Teamcenter
  • Prepare instrument hook-up drawings, instrument I/O lists, utility lists, and datasheets
  • Deliver engineering work on schedule and maintain high-quality outputs
  • Ensure compliance with department processes, procedures, and design standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement
  • Check and approve customer deliverables
  • Coordinate with John Crane manufacturing centers worldwide to source and package products according to project schedules
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions through 8D/RCA/GCN processes
  • Support safe workplace cultures and Smiths EH&S compliance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in technology development, engineering, or similar functions
  • Domain knowledge of process equipment and seal systems in Polymer, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Aerospace, Refinery, and Turbomachinery areas
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical seal business, markets, engineering processes, and products
  • Good understanding of engineering process needs in design and operations, business drivers, and industry practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in an international environment with teams across regions and willingness to travel
  • Ability to work in deadline-driven environments with attention to detail and multitasking
  • Ability to make quick decisions while evaluating risk
  • Affinity with mechanical seal systems used in process industries
  • Hands-on experience with P&ID, 3D assembly, 3D part modelling, and 2D drafting environments, preferably Solid Edge
  • Detailed engineering knowledge of mechanical seal support systems/API piping plans or similar fluid-control systems
  • Experience selecting and releasing purchase specifications and datasheets for pressure, level, and temperature instruments
  • Working knowledge of API 682, API 610, API 614, ASTM/ASME piping, and pressure-vessel standards preferred
  • Automation skills are an added advantage
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and able to achieve results with limited direct supervision
