Job Description
Engineering Manager leading distributed teams building AI-native web experiences. Shaping customer adoption and developer workflows for CircleCI’s continuous integration and delivery platform.
Responsibilities:
- Own holistic user experiences where customers interact with CircleCI
- Shape how customers perceive and adopt CircleCI, impacting retention and expansion
- Build a high-trust, highly competent, cohesive engineering team
- Attract, onboard, and retain diverse talent
- Develop engineers through coaching, mentoring, 1:1s, goal setting, feedback, and career support
- Build psychological safety, trust, inclusion, and belonging
- Ensure incremental value delivery and high-quality standards
- Collaborate with Design, Product, and Data partners on strategic work
- Track performance metrics and identify optimization and continuous-improvement opportunities
- Engage stakeholders and customers to gather feedback and align engineering initiatives with business objectives
- Translate customer insights into team priorities
- Maintain transparency and efficiency across development, product, and stakeholder teams
- Participate in organizational development and cross-team initiatives
- Use AI tools to evaluate technical direction and pressure-test decisions
- Help the team improve frontend performance, reliability, and maintainable architecture
- Champion observability tools such as Honeycomb and Datadog
- Ensure architectural decisions are documented, challenge weak reasoning, and provide technical guidance when the team is split
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a people-management role
- Experience building cohesive, accountable teams
- Modern software engineering practices
- Experience delivering solutions incrementally through experimentation and iteration
- Experience with agile methodologies is an asset
- AI-native mindset and experience using AI tools effectively in engineering work
- Technical understanding sufficient to evaluate architecture decisions, anticipate pitfalls, and act as a credible technical tiebreaker
- Open and honest communication skills
- Product instincts focused on developer needs and priorities
- Action orientation and continuous improvement mindset
- Experience leading and motivating a distributed team
- Experience managing frontend-leaning full-stack teams is nice to have
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React and TypeScript is nice to have
