Job Description
Engineering Manager overseeing data science delivery on AI projects at ICA, Inc. Handling team growth, technical guidance, and stakeholder collaboration to achieve impactful results.
Responsibilities:
- Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance
- Manage the full performance cycle — goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews
- Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels
- Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives
- Monitor team engagement, taking proactive steps to address issues
- Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding
- Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models, analytical pipelines, and AI-powered solutions
- Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities and ensure smooth execution
- Promote best practices in data science — model quality, reproducibility, documentation, and responsible AI
- Translate complex data science outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
- Communicate across all levels — from individual contributors to senior leadership — with clarity and confidence
- Align data science efforts with broader business and client objectives
- Represent and advocate for your team's work, capacity, and needs
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development
- Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics
- Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant DS/ML frameworks
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
- A genuine commitment to growing the people around you
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related); experience is the most relevant factor
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
