Job Description
Environmental Field Technician supporting U.S. water infrastructure and water quality investigations for energy and environmental consultancy. Collecting samples, inspecting sites, operating equipment, and reporting field conditions while traveling at least 75%.
Responsibilities:
- Review technical/program documents and applications
- Perform environmental calculations based on provided methodologies
- Collect, label, and ship samples from job sites to laboratories for testing and analysis
- Maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
- Document field observations and submit timely field-status reports
- Communicate with field supervisors, project managers, and community stakeholders about field conditions, job status, and operational challenges
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations
- Adapt to project timelines, schedules, and field conditions
- Operate motor non-CDL vehicles to transport field personnel and equipment
- Support water infrastructure and water quality investigations across the United States
- Engage with community stakeholders, gather environmental data, monitor equipment vendors, conduct sampling, and perform site inspections
- Travel to project sites for multiple weeks at a time
Requirements:
- College degree required; Bachelor’s Degree listed in qualifications
- 2–5 years of environmental or similar field experience
- Experience with environmental sampling techniques
- Familiarity with Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
- Active OSHA 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
- Previous GIS platform experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel at least 75% of hours worked
- Weekend mobilization and demobilization and over-the-weekend stays may be required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work outdoors in various field conditions
- Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, collaborative, and able to make real-time decisions
- Must reside within the United States
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment background screening
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before employment start date unless an applicable reasonable accommodation is granted
