Job Description

Field Manager supporting contract Iowa pork producers for JBS Live Pork. Improving farm production, compliance, profitability, and producer relationships across regional sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with a designated group of contract pork producers
  • Troubleshoot problem areas and provide solutions for improving production
  • Manage customer relationships and provide documentation of on-farm reports
  • Work with the Business Manager to develop solutions and make decisions impacting area and business-unit profitability
  • Visit farms, conduct producer meetings, and share information to maximize production
  • Manage 20–25 producer sites consisting of 50–100,000 pig spaces
  • Assist with producer relationships and contract renewals
  • Train pork producers
  • Audit facility and environmental compliance and help producers meet compliance
  • Assist producers in property marketing’s animals
  • Perform administrative duties including pig conformance, feed budgets, and closeout processes
  • Coach, train, and develop new farm managers
  • Support animal welfare, environmental, medication/veterinary, and bio-security compliance
  • Help control costs associated with feed, supplies, and labor
  • Maintain accurate records and number integrity
  • Coordinate and oversee special projects
  • Recommend operational improvements
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Production Manager

Requirements:

  • 2-year degree in Agriculture, Animal Production or related field
  • BS/BA degree in Agriculture or related field, or 5 years’ equivalent experience in pork production preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish strongly preferred)
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Approximately 80% day travel and very limited overnight travel
  • Ability to motivate and inspire people to achieve high goals
  • Possess Problem Solving Techniques
  • Demonstrates knowledge of overall business strategy and operations
  • Possesses proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software
  • Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, twist, and lift approximately 60+ lbs
  • Drug, alcohol, and background checks required post-offer and prior to the start of employment
  • Employment eligibility verification required by the end of the third day of work
