Job Description

Head of Protection Intermediary Distribution leading Scottish Widows’ UK protection growth strategy. Building intermediary partnerships, driving profitable market growth and developing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Set the direction for intermediary distribution and translate ambition into a clear commercial strategy
  • Own and deliver the intermediary distribution strategy, with accountability for profitable growth, quality, persistency and market share
  • Identify where to compete, where to invest and which opportunities create customer and commercial value
  • Build and lead strategic relationships with the UK’s major protection intermediary businesses
  • Secure stronger partnerships and panel positions where appropriate
  • Develop new distribution frameworks and market routes
  • Collaborate with Halifax Intermediaries and other areas within Lloyds Banking Group
  • Use insight and management information to identify opportunities, make trade-offs and intervene when performance is off track
  • Lead service recovery and complex partner issues
  • Influence proposition, pricing, service and technology priorities with market and adviser insight
  • Create a high-performing, commercially curious team
  • Report to the Protection Director

Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of the UK protection intermediary market, including the relevant regulatory, technical and legislative environment
  • Strong track record of delivering growth and translating strategy into measurable outcomes
  • Recognised reputation and solid market presence
  • Excellent senior relationship leadership and ability to influence with impact
  • Experience leading, developing and empowering a team to deliver stretching commercial and customer outcomes
  • Strategic judgement and capacity to recognise opportunities, focus investment and make definite choices
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, applying insight and data to inform decisions and oversee performance
  • Confidence and tenacity to challenge the status quo, resolve complex issues and remove blockers to growth
  • Articulate, authentic and engaging leadership style
  • Knowledge of Scottish Widows’ primary competitors and current developments in the Protection market
  • Understanding of the mortgage and wealth markets and how they can support wider growth ambitions
