Job Description
Instructional content writer creating researched transportation-industry training for CarriersEdge. Developing storyboards, tests, scripts, and online course materials with creative collaborators.
Responsibilities:
- Develop course material with other content writers on regulatory changes, human resource topics, and task-specific transportation-industry skills
- Create comprehensive outlines, storyboards, final tests, and audio scripts
- Collaborate with translators, graphic designers, and voice-over artists
- Assemble content components into finished online products using CarriersEdge proprietary tools
- Research subject matter and write storyboards and content
- Participate in reviews with senior team members
- Refine content through the research, organize, write, and review process
- Connect with remote team members through Slack, email, and Zoom
- Participate in occasional in-person meetings and attend industry events
- Visit customer sites to oversee photoshoots supporting content creation
- Track activities in weekly status reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 6 years of professional long-form writing experience, such as technical writing or educational material/course development
- Demonstrated ability to research subject matter and create accurate, detailed stories
- Demonstrated ability to tell stories through writing without relying on regurgitated bullet points
- Expert knowledge of spelling, grammar, and writing style
- Ability to use Microsoft Word styles, tables, tracking, and other advanced features
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to adapt workflow to established processes
- Portfolio of work demonstrating relevant skills
- Must reside in Canada
- Willingness to occasionally travel to and participate in industry events
