Job Description
Contract Instructional Designer creating InDesign-based instructor-led training for Interplay, a skilled trades education company. Developing workbooks, trainer materials, assessments, and activities.
Responsibilities:
- Design engaging instructor-led learning experiences, including interactive lessons, workshops, activities, and assessments
- Write learning objectives and storyboard lessons
- Develop assessments and activities that reinforce learning
- Apply the ADDIE model and adult learning principles
- Transform technical and raw content into cohesive, practical, learner-centered learning journeys
- Use Adobe InDesign to develop high-quality learning materials
- Create student workbooks, trainer materials, assessments, and activities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, curriculum designers, and cross-functional teams
- Assess existing content, identify opportunities, make recommendations, and move work forward with limited direction
- Maintain accuracy, quality, structure, clarity, and attention to detail throughout development
Requirements:
- 3+ years of proven experience in instructional design
- Expertise in Adobe InDesign
- Proven ability to write clear learning objectives, storyboard lessons, and develop engaging assessments and activities
- Familiarity with the ADDIE model and adult learning theory
- Solid understanding of how instructional materials are produced
- Availability to work daytime business hours and attend calls
- Experience designing courses in the skilled trades or related fields (nice to have)
- Resume, cover letter, and application questionnaire required
- Signed Independent Contractor Agreement and background check required before starting
- I-9 verification, E-Verify, background check, and drug and alcohol screening required
- Contractor responsible for federal, state, and local taxes, insurance, business expenses, computer, equipment, software, and other tools
