Job Description
Junior Field Services Technician supporting Peraton’s national security and enterprise IT missions. Installing, testing, troubleshooting, and transitioning mission-critical Voice Communication Switch systems.
Responsibilities:
- Support site surveys, site preparation, equipment installation, and system deployment activities under senior direction
- Assist with VCS system cutovers from legacy voice platforms to next-generation systems
- Support decommissioning and removal of legacy voice communication systems
- Perform basic system testing and validation of power, equipment connections, cabling, connectivity, installation, and site specifications
- Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of VCS and supporting telecommunications/IT infrastructure
- Use diagnostic tools and established procedures to identify voice, network, and hardware issues
- Support preventive maintenance and system health checks
- Assist with on-site customer support and basic end-user assistance or orientation
- Maintain technical documentation, service reports, installation records, and cutover documentation
- Follow safety protocols, site security requirements, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with senior field technicians, engineers, program teams, and other technical personnel
- Escalate complex technical issues and assist with troubleshooting and resolution
- Develop proficiency with VCS systems, telecommunications equipment, testing procedures, and field deployment processes
- Support testing at the FAA WJHTC in New Jersey, VCS vendor locations and Washington Labs in Maryland
- Support FAA VCS ATC cutovers as a paired, non-lead technician
Requirements:
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Clearance
- 2 years of experience with BS; 0 years with MS; 4 years with an AS; 6 years in lieu of a degree
- Familiarity with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems, telecommunications systems, or similar voice/network technologies
- Exposure to system cutovers, migrations, installations, or technology refresh efforts is preferred
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure
- Basic knowledge of VoIP technologies
- Basic knowledge of cabling and connectivity
- Basic knowledge of power and equipment validation
- Basic knowledge of networked voice systems
- Basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience using basic test equipment and diagnostic tools in technical or field environments
- Ability to learn and follow established procedures in operational environments where system uptime and reliability are important
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions or escalate issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures
- Ability to accurately document work performed, issues identified, and resolutions
- Good time management and ability to support deployment and installation timelines
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and other technical personnel
- Willingness to learn new systems and technologies
- Extensive travel, up to 95%
