Job Description
Junior Systems Administrator supporting a technology company’s internal IT operations. Managing endpoints, identity, infrastructure, application support, documentation, and automation.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal IT support requests
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Own and maintain the IT ticketing queue and support workflows, including triage and prioritization
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, including provisioning, licensing, groups, mailboxes, and security policies
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding across business systems
- Manage company endpoints through Intune, including enrollment, configuration, compliance, and software deployment
- Administer accounts and permissions across SaaS platforms including Front, Dialpad, and Zoho CRM
- Conduct periodic license and access audits
- Assist with cloud and on-premises infrastructure administration and maintenance
- Support patching, monitoring, routine maintenance, network infrastructure, VPN access, backups, restore testing, and disaster recovery procedures
- Support endpoint and email security tooling and help respond to alerts
- Triage issues in internal web applications, reproduce problems, and write precise bug reports
- Investigate issues using application logs, browser developer tools, and database queries
- Distinguish and independently resolve user errors and data problems; log genuine defects and enhancement requests
- Verify fixes and assist with release testing before production deployment
- Perform straightforward data and configuration corrections under guidance
- Progress toward making small code fixes with mentorship
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and internal knowledge base articles
- Identify process gaps and propose improvements
- Assist with internal reporting tools, dashboards, and workflow automations
- Contribute to business data and reporting requests as skills develop
- Collaborate with the IT Administrator and other departments to understand technology needs
- Develop capability to manage IT operations independently and provide backup coverage
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar technical role
- Solid troubleshooting skills across Windows environments, networking, and end-user hardware and software issues
- Working familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, including user and license management at minimum
- A methodical approach to problem-solving: able to isolate a problem, gather evidence, and describe it precisely
- Comfortable working in a small team with significant autonomy and breadth of responsibility
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues
- Detail-oriented, with a genuine habit of keeping documentation accurate and up to date
- Collaborative and service-minded toward internal employees
- Able to work 8:00am–5:00pm Eastern Time, Mondays to Fridays
- Nice-to-have: hands-on Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Conditional Access
- Nice-to-have: endpoint management, particularly Microsoft Intune
- Nice-to-have: basic SQL, including SELECT queries with joins
- Nice-to-have: comfort reading application logs and using browser developer tools
- Nice-to-have: exposure to Git and issue trackers such as Linear, Jira, or GitLab
- Nice-to-have: exposure to web application development in Python, JavaScript, or a similar stack
- Nice-to-have: exposure to cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with VPN and remote access technologies such as Tailscale or WireGuard
- Nice-to-have: scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Python, or similar tools
- Nice-to-have: exposure to containers or Linux server administration
- Nice-to-have: experience with no-code or low-code automation platforms such as n8n, Power Automate, Zapier, or Make
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with BI or dashboard tools such as Metabase, Power BI, or Grafana
- Nice-to-have: relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, CompTIA A+ / Network+, or Azure/AWS fundamentals
