Job Description

Lead Data Scientist guiding predictive modelling and data science teams at Cotality, a property intelligence company. Building scalable models and data products for UK financial institutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data scientists
  • Own the end-to-end model lifecycle from R&D and prototyping through deployment into production pipelines
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Product, Sales, and Leadership to translate business needs into analytical solutions
  • Champion best practices in model development, validation, and maintenance
  • Guide the technical strategy for core data products used by major financial institutions across the UK
  • Contribute to a new data platform

Requirements:

  • Typically 8+ years of experience developing and deploying high-impact machine learning models in a commercial environment
  • Expert-level knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and ensemble techniques such as Gradient Boosted Trees and Random Forests
  • High proficiency in Python for data science, including Pandas, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost/LightGBM
  • High proficiency in SQL
  • Experience working with very large, complex, and sometimes messy datasets
  • Proven ability to act as a senior technical guide, mentor other data scientists, and lead the technical direction of complex projects
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence strategic decisions
  • Experience with geospatial data is advantageous but not required
  • Experience in PropTech, FinTech, or the financial services/lending industry is desirable
  • Hands-on experience developing or deploying Automated Valuation Models is desirable
  • Familiarity with model validation, performance benchmarking, and compliance metrics within a regulated industry is desirable
