Job Description

Lead P&C Engineer responsible for executing Protection and Control Engineering for GE Vernova. Involves design, programming, testing for critical power systems for utilities and industrial clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and delivery of complex protection solutions for generation, transmission, distribution systems for electrical utilities and industrial clients
  • Participate in the design and development of microgrid solutions including power flow optimization and dispatching algorithms
  • Perform engineering studies and analyses such as: short circuit, load flow, ground grid design, Lightening protection studies, Insulation coordination, arc-flash studies, protective device coordination, etc
  • Create relay setting files to include programming of Protection and Control Elements, Control Logic and Communications settings for GE and third-party protective relays
  • Test customized Protection and Control solutions both in house and at customer installations
  • Ability to model and conduct power system simulations using RTDS simulator or equivalent
  • Provide factory acceptance test plans and testing services to validate protection designs for customer witnessing
  • Site acceptance test planning and field support up to and including commissioning of new applications
  • Assist software tool development to automate the engineering process internally and externally with key utility partners
  • Participate in project meetings with project managers and customers on technical discussions

Requirements:

  • B.S or higher degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering specialized in power system
  • 7+ years of experience in design, study, and analysis of electric power systems
  • Knowledge of power system steady and transient analysis, fault study and protection theory
  • Familiar with symmetrical components
  • Working experience with study software and power system tools such as Mathcad, MATLAB, ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, CDEGS, WinIGS, or Etap
  • Working knowledge on substation communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP, Modbus
  • Knowledge or field experience with system commissioning and testing including Doble / Omicron test equipment or similar
  • Technical skills to execute projects, identify opportunities, and write SOW proposals
