Job Description
Audio Engineer editing and quality-checking French speech recordings for TTS and speech AI systems. Preparing high-quality datasets for Mercor’s frontier AI model training projects.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and process French voice recordings for TTS and speech AI systems
- Perform audio cleanup, including silence trimming, breath reduction/removal, de-clicking, de-essing, and noise reduction
- Conduct quality assurance checks for clipping, distortion, background noise, artifacts, loudness consistency, and level balancing
- Ensure audio meets technical specifications for machine-learning training pipelines
- Evaluate French pronunciation accuracy, naturalness, and fluency
- Process large batches of recordings while maintaining consistency and throughput
- Collaborate on French speech datasets, voice-talent recordings, and model-training workflows
- Support projects training and enhancing AI systems
Requirements:
- Native or near-native French fluency
- Experience editing speech or voice recordings, not just music production
- Strong understanding of speech audio quality standards and common recorded-dialogue issues
- Hands-on experience with iZotope RX, Pro Tools, or similar audio restoration software
- Ability to identify and fix audio artifacts, inconsistencies, and technical defects
- Experience working with high-volume audio datasets or structured workflows
- Detail-oriented with strong critical listening skills in French
- Comfortable performing repetitive, high-precision tasks at scale
- Ability to balance speed and quality in production environments
- Familiarity with nuances of human French speech versus synthetic voice requirements
- Independent contractor engagement
- Unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates
